Wedding and first trimester all over again..

The wedding rehearsal and wedding went off with a hitch and Ms. Swoboda is now Mrs. Paul Horsman!! I regretfully did not get ANY pictures because my camera died right when we got to the hair salon! :( I will just have to wait for her professional ones to come back. I was SO nervous to walk the down isle - but it was crazy! Right when I walked out, I focused on Adam (he was the best man) and everything was all okay, just like our wedding a little over a year ago.

I have not been feeling too good. I almost fainted Friday, everything went blury, saw stars and lost my hearing. I had just ate before hand so I am not too sure what is going on. Saturday I woke up with morning sickness and just felt weak and tired Saturday night. My headaches have been HORRIBLE!!! I don't think Bennett has been effected by any of this, he seems to be just dancing away in my belly.

I go to the doctor here in about an hour for my monthly appointment, then I have my mid pregnancy screening! Daddy did not get to make this appointment :( but he told me to record it so he could see baby B too. I thought that was a great idea! I could send the video to Adam's grandma who lives in Midland too, she would LOVE to see baby B! So tonight I will attempt to put the video online and post it on here too. I love doctor appointments when I get to see my baby! :)

We finished registering at Babies R Us on Sunday, I was way too tired to finish Target. We got some good loot and mommy needs to learn to stop buying so much for Baby B until I have my shower! I had to get his matching laundry hamper, lamp and music mobile for his crib :) His room is starting to look more and more like a baby's room! It is so weird!

Update - Doctor's appointment went great! It is official, we will have one crazy baby. The ultrasound tech asked me "Um ma'am, did you have a coke before you came in? He is going crazy" LOL No coke for me! He had the hiccups - like ALWAYS! She said his feet were in perfect position against my uterus for me to be feeling every kick - which I have been. She saw my camera and said oh honey, I will sneak you a DVD for your husband :) So I am excited Adam gets to watch the whole video when he gets home! Still no actual measurements because he was too awake today. She is estimated 10 - 10.5 inches long. Almost 1 foot in length! He has my nose and daddy's feet!

My dizzy spell I was so worried about seems to be completely normal. I was sitting down getting my make up done for Tiff's wedding when it happened and she said when I am sitting down for long periods of time, my blood doesn't flow as good as it should since I have a pretty big baby boy putting pressure on my veins. That's it for now! Next appointment is February 27th!

Bennet with mommy's nose!

100 % positive he is a boy this time around!

20 weeks!!! Half way there!!

I CANNOT believe I am already half way through this pregnancy!!!! I have a feeling baby B will be making an early arrival. With how big he is already and the side effects from my surgery this summer being pre term labor, I think he will be a few weeks early! As long as he is fully baked and healthy, this mama will be happy! Watch.. now I won't have until 42 weeks pregnant. Ah.. I would be miserable!

**Today's 20 week picture is below :)

How Far Along: 20 weeks!
Size of baby:  Length of a banana - 10 inches long (I suspect he is bigger, but I will find out Monday!)
Gender: see previous posts
Maternity Clothes: Still yes and no, I know and I am huge! I am wearing my prepregnant skinny jeans today. I had to put on my bella band this morning to hide that they won't button :)
Weight gain: I'll find out Monday. I am ALL belly so I am thinking 8-10lbs
Movement: 24-7!!!!! He is doing cart wheels in there
Sleep: eh.. I am like a fish out of water when I try to sleeo now!
Symptoms: heartburn like crazy!
Cravings: Varies - last night it was Chik Fil A chicken salad and a side salad
Best moment this week: I was sitting on the couch Monday night and he was kicking up a storm, looked down at my belly and I could SEE him moving with my very own eyes! Hubby was out of town so he missed it :(
I had to write this a day early because wedding festivities begin tomorrow for Paul and Tiffany! We have the Rehearsal at 6, dinner at Brenner's to follow, then girls are getting a hotel room and guys are staying at Paul's house. Hair appointment at 10:00am Friday morning then heading to venue to set up and wedding at 7! Whew. I am already tired :)

Painters? Not so much!!!

Well we decided to be productive this weekend! I cleaned house Saturday morning, had the windows open and CMT on the TV! It was such a lovely morning! Saturday Adam taped off Bennett's room. I went by Hobby Lobby and they finally had all of his wooden letters to paint his name! I started on that and hubby started painting nursery. Sunday morning we were back at it. I finished the letters and helped hubby some with the nursery. I took lots of breaks and we had the windows and fans on. Finally around 5 last night we finished!

This green is not as bright as it looks - for some reason my phone's contrast is crazy!

It's hard to see but these letters match his bedding.

B-Footballs
E- Stars
N- Stripes
N - Baseballs
E - Field Goals
T - Hats
T - Footballs

I had to go with the large letters because that is all hobby lobby had without missing an "N" or "T", I think it looks great! Hubby thought the letters looked tacky but after I painted them he thinks its awesome!
Daddy - 0 Mommy - 1 :)

I had my dress fitting, and it fit PERFECTLY!! Woohoo! I was pretty worried! We both have a short week with the wedding being on Friday, and an early day on Thursday with rehearsal so it will be a busy work week trying to get everything done! I have had the Bangles song in my head all day.. It's just another manic Monday... Cuz' that's my fun day!! :)

Don't Carpe Diem

For mommies and mommies to be :)

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/glennon-melton/dont-carpe-diem_b_1206346.html

Glennon Melton

Every time I'm out with my kids -- this seems to happen:
An older woman stops us, puts her hand over her heart and says something like, "Oh, Enjoy every moment. This time goes by so fast."
Everywhere I go, someone is telling me to seize the moment, raise my awareness, be happy, enjoy every second, etc, etc, etc.
I know that this message is right and good. But, I have finally allowed myself to admit that it just doesn't work for me. It bugs me. This CARPE DIEM message makes me paranoid and panicky. Especially during this phase of my life - while I'm raising young kids. Being told, in a million different ways to CARPE DIEM makes me worry that if I'm not in a constant state of intense gratitude and ecstasy, I'm doing something wrong.
I think parenting young children (and old ones, I've heard) is a little like climbing Mount Everest. Brave, adventurous souls try it because they've heard there's magic in the climb. They try because they believe that finishing, or even attempting the climb are impressive accomplishments. They try because during the climb, if they allow themselves to pause and lift their eyes and minds from the pain and drudgery, the views are breathtaking. They try because even though it hurts and it's hard, there are moments that make it worth the hard. These moments are so intense and unique that many people who reach the top start planning, almost immediately, to climb again. Even though any climber will tell you that most of the climb is treacherous, exhausting, killer. That they literally cried most of the way up.
And so I think that if there were people stationed, say, every thirty feet along Mount Everest yelling to the climbers -- "ARE YOU ENJOYING YOURSELF!? IF NOT, YOU SHOULD BE! ONE DAY YOU'LL BE SORRY YOU DIDN'T!" TRUST US!! IT'LL BE OVER TOO SOON! CARPE DIEM!" -- those well-meaning, nostalgic cheerleaders might be physically thrown from the mountain.
Now. I'm not suggesting that the sweet old ladies who tell me to ENJOY MYSELF be thrown from a mountain. These are wonderful ladies. Monkees, probably. But last week, a woman approached me in the Target line and said the following: "Sugar, I hope you are enjoying this. I loved every single second of parenting my two girls. Every single moment. These days go by so fast."
At that particular moment, Amma had arranged one of the new bras I was buying on top of her sweater and was sucking a lollipop that she must have found on the ground. She also had three shop-lifted clip-on neon feathers stuck in her hair. She looked exactly like a contestant from Toddlers and Tiaras. I couldn't find Chase anywhere, and Tish was grabbing the pen on the credit card swiper thing WHILE the woman in front of me was trying to use it. And so I just looked at the woman, smiled and said, "Thank you. Yes. Me too. I am enjoying every single moment. Especially this one. Yes. Thank you."
That's not exactly what I wanted to say, though.
There was a famous writer who, when asked if he loved writing, replied, "No. but I love having written." What I wanted to say to this sweet woman was, "Are you sure? Are you sure you don't mean you love having parented?"
I love having written. And I love having parented. My favorite part of each day is when the kids are put to sleep (to bed) and Craig and I sink into the couch to watch some quality TV, like Celebrity Wife Swap, and congratulate each other on a job well done. Or a job done, at least.
Every time I write a post like this, I get emails suggesting that I'm being negative. I have received this particular message four or five times -- G, if you can't handle the three you have, why do you want a fourth?
That one always stings, and I don't think it's quite fair. Parenting is hard. Just like lots of important jobs are hard. Why is it that the second a mother admits that it's hard, people feel the need to suggest that maybe she's not doing it right? Or that she certainly shouldn't add more to her load. Maybe the fact that it's so hard means she IS doing it right...in her own way...and she happens to be honest.
Craig is a software salesman. It's a hard job in this economy. And he comes home each day and talks a little bit about how hard it is. And I don't ever feel the need to suggest that he's not doing it right, or that he's negative for noticing that it's hard, or that maybe he shouldn't even consider taking on more responsibility. And I doubt anybody comes by his office to make sure he's ENJOYING HIMSELF. I doubt his boss peeks in his office and says: "This career stuff...it goes by so fast...ARE YOU ENJOYING EVERY MOMENT IN THERE, CRAIG???? CARPE DIEM, CRAIG!"
My point is this. I used to worry that not only was I failing to do a good enough job at parenting, but that I wasn't enjoying it enough. Double failure. I felt guilty because I wasn't in parental ecstasy every hour of every day and I wasn't MAKING THE MOST OF EVERY MOMENT like the mamas in the parenting magazines seemed to be doing. I felt guilty because honestly, I was tired and cranky and ready for the day to be over quite often. And because I knew that one day, I'd wake up and the kids would be gone, and I'd be the old lady in the grocery store with my hand over my heart. Would I be able to say I enjoyed every moment? No.
But the fact remains that I will be that nostalgic lady. I just hope to be one with a clear memory. And here's what I hope to say to the younger mama gritting her teeth in line:
"It's helluva hard, isn't it? You're a good mom, I can tell. And I like your kids, especially that one peeing in the corner. She's my favorite. Carry on, warrior. Six hours till bedtime." And hopefully, every once in a while, I'll add -- "Let me pick up that grocery bill for ya, sister. Go put those kids in the van and pull on up -- I'll have them bring your groceries out."
Anyway. Clearly, Carpe Diem doesn't work for me. I can't even carpe fifteen minutes in a row, so a whole diem is out of the question.
Here's what does work for me:
There are two different types of time. Chronos time is what we live in. It's regular time, it's one minute at a time, it's staring down the clock till bedtime time, it's ten excruciating minutes in the Target line time, it's four screaming minutes in time out time, it's two hours till daddy gets home time. Chronos is the hard, slow passing time we parents often live in.
Then there's Kairos time. Kairos is God's time. It's time outside of time. It's metaphysical time. It's those magical moments in which time stands still. I have a few of those moments each day. And I cherish them.
Like when I actually stop what I'm doing and really look at Tish. I notice how perfectly smooth and brownish her skin is. I notice the perfect curves of her teeny elf mouth and her asianish brown eyes, and I breathe in her soft Tishy smell. In these moments, I see that her mouth is moving but I can't hear her because all I can think is -- This is the first time I've really seen Tish all day, and my God -- she is so beautiful. Kairos.
Like when I'm stuck in chronos time in the grocery line and I'm haggard and annoyed and angry at the slow check-out clerk. And then I look at my cart and I'm transported out of chronos. And suddenly I notice the piles and piles of healthy food I'll feed my children to grow their bodies and minds and I remember that most of the world's mamas would kill for this opportunity. This chance to stand in a grocery line with enough money to pay. And I just stare at my cart. At the abundance. The bounty. Thank you, God. Kairos.
Or when I curl up in my cozy bed with Theo asleep at my feet and Craig asleep by my side and I listen to them both breathing. And for a moment, I think- how did a girl like me get so lucky? To go to bed each night surrounded by this breath, this love, this peace, this warmth? Kairos.
These kairos moments leave as fast as they come- but I mark them. I say the word kairos in my head each time I leave chronos. And at the end of the day, I don't remember exactly what my kairos moments were, but I remember I had them. And that makes the pain of the daily parenting climb worth it.
If I had a couple Kairos moments during the day, I call it a success.
Carpe a couple of Kairoses a day.
Good enough for me.

Crib set...check!

Well we decided Friday night to not go with the UT themed baby room. It would just be too hard to register for anything that matched his room so we found a set at Babies R Us that has brown, navy and burnt orange all on it. It is the Little MVP set - sports themed is a MUST! :)

We went Saturday to look at it in person and to maybe buy the blanket so we could match paint colors... and we ended up getting the whole bedroom set and not the blanket! We found such a GREAT deal on the crib, dresser and changing table so we could not pass it up. All items were actually in stock too! We just glanced at gliders to see if they had one that would match his bedding and found one on sale at another great price and in stock so we picked that up too!

I worked in the garage on the glider and he worked on everything else in Bennett's room. Needless to say it only took 10 minutes before I got confused and needed his help. Ted and Cindi stopped by with baby Miles so we had to cut our furniture building short! Miles is adorable and seems like such a happy and content baby (When he isn't hungry!) Little Leo did not like his mommy holding a baby that is for sure. I am sure it will definitely take him sometime to adjust once baby Bennett comes. Around 7 I started feeling pretty bad - nauseous, heart burn, back ache so I decided to lay down for a bit.. and I ended up sleeping for 12 hours straight! I woke up Sunday and had a cold.. ugh! I think my body was telling me I needed rest! We finished the furniture Sunday morning and hit up some garden places to get some flowers for the yard. I once again.. took another 2 hour nap and missed half of the Texans game :( I did get the flowers planted and woke up to see the Texans lose :( Its okay boys! We will be back next year!

Now I can't wait to start decorating the nursery and get some paint on the walls!! I am also on the hunt for the wall paper border for his bedroom set... Babies R us of course doesn't carry it and I can't find it anywhere!!

18 down, 22 to go!

I am almost to the half way point of pregnancy!!! Yayy!! In a short 22 weeks little Bennett will be here! I still have so much to do. His closet is filling up with baby boy clothes. I am thinking of maybe starting to tape off the nursery this weekend and maybe get some paint! We are officially doing a University of Texas theme. The bottom of the walls will be a chocolate brown and the top half will be burnt orange. I went to Hobby Lobby to pick out the wooden letters so I could start painting them, but they were short one "T"! I am hoping to start our hunt this weekend for the perfect crib set. I hear I need to order it pretty soon because they can take 8-10 weeks to arrive.
Updated with my 18 week photo! :)

How Far Along: 18 weeks!
Size of baby: Sweet Potato - roughly 6 inches long
Gender: BOY BOY BOY!! :)
Maternity Clothes: My "small" maternity jeans are too small but I am still fitting into all my regular jeans?!
Weight gain: 8lbs
Movement: ALL DAY long!!! And if I hold my hand on my belly I can actually feel him now! The other day he got as high as my ribs!
Sleep: I have been getting the best sleep ever. I have been in bed by 8:30 and wake up just about 10 minutes short of my alarm going off (5:45am). I am getting used to sleeping on my side but it is hard to get comfortable
Symptoms: Short of breath as baby gets higher, round ligament pains
Cravings: HEALTHY food! Fruit, veggies, multigrain pita chips
Best moment this week: Being able to feel Bennett moving all other! I swear he is doing jumping jacks in there. Every time Adam places his hand on my tummy, he stops moving :(

Home Sweet Home!!!!

Thanks to Adam's brother and some friends, we got everything moved over Saturday! I got the largest Uhaul and our stuff BARELY fit!! We literally had 20 boxes just for kitchen appliances, plates, etc! Adam worked in the kitchen and I unpacked all other rooms. I still need to have the hubby hang up some stuff that is too heavy for me and organzine his side of the closet but that is it. We went to Home Depot yesterday and got him this big steel shelving unit for the garage so he worked on that all afternoon and finished it! :)

Master bath - I have already taken advantage of having this! It is by far my FAVORITE upgrade :)

Master bath

Guest bath

LOVE our front door

Dining room :) Still need to hang decor in this room

Enrty leading to kitchen, I hung my crosses all by myself :)

Best part of the house.. we love this kitchen!

And I LOVE our fridge!!!

My other favorite, I finally get to use our patio furniture we have had for 3 years just tucked away!

While we were waiting for closing on Friday we stopped by Babies R Us to look at boys stuff! They had tons of stuff on clearance. This is my favorite outfit! Daddy picked it out all by himself! :)

I'll hopefully get around to taking some pictures of master, guest and living room once everything is hung up. Good news is we get TV and Internet today! I am not going to lie, it was VERY nice having a quiet few nights with hubby.

On a bad note, morning sickness has hit me with full force these past few days. I am almost 18 weeks pregnant! Can't you please be gone already?! On a good note, last night we were getting ready to go to bed and I had my hands on my tummy and I FELT Bennett kicking with my hands! Before now I could only feel it on the inside. By the time I grabbed Adam's hand he was done kicking :(

Definitely having a...BOY!

Bennett Sy Painter is definitely a HYPER baby!! It took us FOREVER to find out because he would not stop kicking, crossing his legs, and doing flips! My doctor could not believe how active and mobile he is! I hope he gets daddy's good looks! :) Ohh I cannot wait to be a soccer mom! Hello Katy Youth Football and Katy Pony Baseball! Mommy and Daddy are super excited and cannot wait to meet their baby boy!!

17 weeks and growing!

Today is the day!!!!!!! - If baby isn't being stubborn and has it's legs crossed :)

Adam is thinking girl
I am thinking boy!
Coin flip says girl
Chinese prediction says boy
Ring on necklace says girls
2 out of 3 coworkers say girl

What do you think? I am stinking with boy! :)

How Far Along: 17 weeks!!!!
Size of baby: Onion! Head to rump - 6 inches, Head to toe 9 inches!
Gender: We find out today.. I am thinking boy!!
Maternity Clothes: Still yay and nay! I actually lost weight at this doctor appointment, belly got bigger but everthing seems to be getting smaller!
Weight gain: Back down to 8-10lbs
Movement: Yes! Baby Painter decided to wake up at 5:15 this morning!
Sleep: See above
Symptoms: Oh the list goes on and on.. drowsy, nauseous, back pain, round ligament pain, sore gums.
Cravings: Kosher pickles
Best moment this week: Hubby telling me I am the opposite of all pregnant women when it comes to food. NOTHING is appealing to me this week!

Lad or Lassie???? - UPDATED!

Today MIGHT be the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to ask my doctor pretty please with a cherry on top for an ultrasound today to see if we can tell if we have a little Bennett or Madi in there! ljgldjfgjdfgdfg I am counting down the minutes until 1:50pm today! Who knows.. maybe I will get there a little early just to see if she can squeeze me in. I seriously cannot wait any longer! :)

Also my Aunt Linda - (Will probably be known as granny to our baby since I am so close with her) sent me some pictures of baby Ainsley Neal!

Granny and Ainsley - precious!

Everyone stay tuned to my blog later.. I might or might not be revealing baby's sex - figners crossed we find out today!

As for my appointment, my blood pressure was pretty high, but I have been really stressed out lately. Baby's heart rate was amazing at 150 bpm! You could also hear he or she's hiccups... again! Every ultrasound I have gotten the baby has had the hiccups every time! She could also hear him or her moving all around in there! Good news is I have been feeling him or her move around all day! Happy I can feel the wiggle worm again!

2011 Recap!

It has been an AMAZING YEAR and hate to see it come to an end but I know 2012 we will be even better!

Spring 2011 -
Our last minute girls trip to L'auberge Du Lac - didn't win a whole lot but we had a BLAST

I was expecting a not so nice hotel but it was lovely and had a "lodge" atmosphere!

Summer 2011 - We usually plan our annual summer trip to Midland but this one unfortantely was not so great. Adam's grandfather fell really ill and his family brought him from his home in Uvalde, TX to Midland for better care. We went to Midland in May and visited him and surprisngly he was doing really well. 3 weels later he took a turn for the worst. We rushed to Midland and was fortunate enough to see him before he passed. June 11, 2011 was the day we lost him. RIP PawPaw. You are greatly missed!

Only photo I took in Midland - It was MISERABLY HOT!

I saw Boston was playing the astros when the 2011 was announced and bought 2 tickets to the game the first day they went on sale. Boston is Adam's favorite team and he was so excited to finally get to see them play! We had a blast at the game!

June 2011 - we knew it was time to get out of of neighborhood ASAP. It was going down hill and just did not feel safe there anymore. We found a perfect home, and it ended up being a short sale. We put an offer on the home and waited a month and a half with still no answer from seller's bank. We decided to pull out of the deal, but we liked the neighborhood so much we decided we could afford to build a home the way we want! Turns out we both have several friends who live there and love the community! It is all a younger crowd with expanding families. Our home will be ready to move in approximately 4 days!

Fall 2011 - BUSY! This past summer we saw an AWESOME roundtrip promotion from Southwest Airlines and had to book a trip to Vegas. We had been talking and talking about going and thought it would be the perfect time. We went with my sister in laws, brother in law, Adam's aunt and some family friends. We had a great time (other than me finding out I was pregnant just a few weeks before our trip)

Vegas was great, we saw everything and did lots and lots of walking. I was seriously in bed by 10 every night with my first trimester hitting me full force.

With it being Fall we got back in the swing of having football parties! Even though Texas did not have a so great season, we had a blast having everyone over :)

Halloween - we had our nieces this Halloween - Here is Mad Hatter and a "Girly" Pirate :)

Wedding festivities began for Tiffany - We attended two showers and had a pregnant friendly bachelorette party for her!

Bachelorette party at Pinot's Palette - we had a blast!

And the best for last... WE FINALLY GOT PREGNANT! March we decided to start trying. I had apps on my phone to tell me when I am ovulating then come May, we found out I needed surgery on my cervix. We were devasted! The rare side effects of my procedure are infertility and pre term labor. We were not able to try to convince until middle of June. We were starting to lose hope when Adam told me I needed to take a test in October. I was in shock he thought I was pregnant - I did not think so what so ever! Finally bought a test and it was negative. Took another one the next day and it was positive. I went to the store and seriously bought every brand of tests and all were positive! Baby Painter will be here June 14th, 2011. Just a little over 5 months to go - almost half way there!

2012 will be a great year!! We had a great New Years with just me, Adam and Chad. We blew up the street with fireworks and watched Dick Clark's NYE. Quiet and relaxing - just like I like it! After 2 straight days of packing... we are done! We are getting rid of our washer and dryer today and need to paint some touch ups on our home, but other than that... no more! We close Friday afternoon! I shut off our ATT today so we will be without TV/Internet for a few days but we will manage. I still have my last of Mockingjay to read.

Also, New Years Eve afternoon at 2:19pm, weighing in at 6lbs 7oz, Ainsley Neal Fields arrived! We are so happy for Greg and Ashley! She is gorgeous! We were starting to get a little worried. The doctors prodded her cervix on Friday hoping to jump start things and she had her next appointment next Thursday to induce. Well, Saturday at 12:00am she went into labor and headed to the hospital to find out Ainsley had turned sideways. After several hours, Ainsley finally moved into head down position and once Ashley was fully dilated, she was here within the hour!
