Recap!

A virus has come and blown through the Painter household and has been going strong for over a week now! It started last week before Thanksgiving, I had a just a little cough, then the hubby, then a fever started, then I started feeling better, then the hubby had a fever of 103 for days, then my sister in law, niece, brother in law and his girl friend got it and now, me and the baby have it.

Bennett got into the doctor yesterday and low and behold it is a virus. He got put on amoxicillin and have the humidifier going in his room and have been keeping vicks on his feet with socks. He still has a fever this morning :( Hoping by this weekend his meds start working and we will have a happy baby again! I have been taking day quil and nyquil like it is going out of style with little to no prevail. Ugh!

We had a great Thanksgiving none the less! We hosted it at our house to give my mother in law a break from all the cooking! It was stressful trying to make sure the house was clean, we had enough seating, and everything was ready on time! I told my mother in law next year the torch is back on her. My sister in law Natalie did most of the cooking with me being sick. Everything turned out fantastic! We all enjoyed each other's company and watched the Texans, Cowboys (yuck) and Texas play! We had so much to be thankful for this year! A loving family, a precious baby boy and a new house over our heads! I still remember last Thanksgiving like it was yesterday - I didn't touch my food in fear that morning sickness would strike at any moment!

Now - our week recap in photos..

So long SAHM

Today, I said goodbye to being a stay at home mama and hello to the work force again.

Long story short, I am back at Lupe Tortilla's corporate office and Bennett started his first day of daycare today.. It was just as hard as I thought it would be saying goodbye to him this morning :( Maybe now I will find time to actually start blogging again on my lunch breaks?!

Not enough time

I am finding out that the older Bennett grows, the less time I have to keep up with my blog!! His hour nap gives me enough time to pick up, start laundry (never finish it of course) and grab a bite to eat! Life has just been flying by! He holds him self up in the standing position now, has mastered rolling over from tummy to back - which makes tummy time impossible and now has his first tooth cutting his gums! Where did my little baby go?! He loves loves loves playing with mama and daddy. He loves swinging in his little tikes swing we hung on the patio, and he is slowly learning how to walk in his walker!

His eyes seem to change color every day! Sometimes blue, sometimes hazel. He hates squash and still loves his bananas along with carrots, peas, apples and sweet potatoes. He is such a mamas boy. He spots me from across the room and just gets the biggest grin.We seem to FINALLY be making progress with acid reflux! With going back to the doctor, upping his zantac, and now switching to to soy formula - he finally seems to be doing a wee bit better!

Now... here is our life lately in photos!

5 months new!

Bennett, you are officially 5 months old!! WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?!?! You are such a big boy now! This week mama said "dada" and you said "aadaaa"! Daddy was so upset he missed it :(

When your  acid reflux isn't bothering you, you are such a happy baby! Your favorite things these days are eating your hands and feet! Yes, you finally discovered your FEET!! You love looking in the mirror at yourself, flipping the lights on and off in the house, going out and about and getting rocked to sleep while mama sings "Hush Little Baby" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"

You take 2-3 naps a day. We are not too consistent with what times. When you are sleepy, we put you down. You cannot go to sleep without your paci and your blankie. You love covering your face up and then pulling the covers off. You do this over and over again.

You love your food. A lot. We made the switch back to Enfamil AR to help with your tummy. You have now had apple sauce, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas.. and your favorite... bananas! You HATE peas. I'm okay with that, mama and dada hate them too ;)

You are about 17lbs and in the 68% percentile for weight. Not too sure about height but I am sure you are still in the 90%. You are wearing 6-9 month clothes already and size 3 diapers!

You truly are the best thing that has ever happened to us. Each day, we thank god for giving us such a beautiful, perfect baby boy. You bring so much joy to our lives and we love you so much Benny!

Halloween!

Even though we only had 3 trick or treaters, we had a great Halloween! Me and Bennett's aunt Nanny dressed him up early in the day and took him out to HEB. Everyone who walked by us had to stop and see him. He was in a grumpy mood ALL day long :(

Nana came over when she got off to see Bennett dressed up, then the husband's family came over! Granma brought pizza for everyone! Bennett went to one house across the street, and fell asleep when walking back down the drive way. He slept in his carrier outside until about 8:00 and woke up in a HAPPY mood! That was short lived, as it was his bed time!

Bennett and his new hat - it fits a wee bit better :)

After his first house

He woke up in such a great mood!

Corpus Christi!

We had a great time quick trip to Corpus! I had Leo in my car, and Adam had Bennett! We stopped half way there to fuel up and that was it! Bennett slept almost the whole way there and the way home!

We got there a little after 11. I got ready for the bridal shower and Adam and Bennett caught up football! That night, Krystal (my future sister in law) watched Bennett while the hubby and I went out to dinner. We got home in time to watch my brother's newscast. It was my first time to see him live! We had a late start in the morning because Bennett woke up at midnight - 2:30am, and back up again at 6:30am. Not so fun! We were all exhausted when we got home! Even poor Bennett had little bags under his eyes!

Silly mama

Lady Lexington (aka the Blue Ghost) we will have to do a tour this Spring!

Me, the bride and Brittany (her sister)

Krystal and Christopher have talked about trying to start a family right away. Bennett gave them a taste of reality. About an hour before we left Corpus Bennett pooped all the way up his back. My brother was gagging and all. It was so funny!
