4 weeks new!!

Bennett is 4 weeks  today!! Seriously! Where does the time go?????? I feel like I have been a parent for forever!! I can barely remember the first day we brought him home and were so scared to do it on our own and a diaper change would take 5 + minutes. Now mommy can change your diaper in less than one minute, and I haven't been peed on in a few weeks! Woohoo!

Bennett is more alert every day! The smallest things will catch his eye! He LOVES the kitchen lights and loves staring at the fire place. He is not a fan of bright light so mommy has been keeping blinds and curtains closed! He seriously loves bath time. He will start slipping down in his tub and I go to move him back up and he starts screaming because he thinks I am taking him out. He is ticklish on his feet and loves kicking his legs all around. He also loves our hands. If you hold your hand up in front of his face he will stare at it for a good few minutes.

Missing daddy

So Adam has been working 10 and 11 hour days... and me and my squeaks (one of many nick names for B) miss you lots!! But I know, with mommy staying home we need the money that's for sure! :)

Aunt Nanny came by today to visit you, we didn't get any pictures because she had a root canal and her face was numb lol She couldn't believe how big you have gotten these past 2 weeks. You have the longest legs in the world!

I cannot believe tomorrow you will be 4 weeks old and on Sunday you will be 1 month old!! I feel like yesterday I was pregnant, but at the same time I feel like you have been part of our family for a very long time!! You change every day and are fascinated by the funniest things - we will post them tomorrow on our 4 week update! :)

First outing!

I have been so paranoid to drive in the car with Bennett so I decided to put my fear to rest today and take baby B to Nana and Papa's earlier today! He did great on the car ride there, kept his paci in his mouth and slept the whole way! Papa was so happy to spend some one on one time with Bennett and Nana came home for lunch to see him. On the way home he made one of his little groans - freaked me out, but checked the mirror and he was fast asleep. :) This was his first outing other than the doctor's office. Still leary of taking him out since he does not have his vaccines yet. We MIGHT take him grocery shopping tonight, but if we do - he will be covered with a blankey. I don't want anyone with germs touching my baby! :)

Sunday was the hubby's first day off since he had to go back to work. It was so nice having him on baby duty Saturday night! Sunday morning we enjoyed some family time with just the three of us before Uncle Chad and Crystal came over to swoon over you :) This was the first time they had seen Bennett since the hospital. They just loved him and thought all of his little facials and noises were the funniest things in the world!

Our routine with Benentt seems to not be working LOL. He sleeps pretty much all day and wakes up when it's time to go to bed. Every time he wakes up in the middle night, he is usually up for at least an hour. Last night I got up, fed him in the dark and was quiet, other than whispering to him. He went right back to sleep like a charm.

In other sad news... we are officially on formula as of today. We knew I was not producing enough milk and had been implementing formula. Bennett usually eats 24-30 ounces a day (he is a hungry boy) and I was only producing about 8 ounces of milk a day, if I was lucky. Yesterday at my 3:30am pumping, I got less than a half an ounce. I thought this was weird because I usually get almost an ounce. I pumped again at 6:00am, and same thing but less. That went on all day and I barely got 2 ounces of milk. This morning when I woke up to pump, my "girls" hurt SO BAD. I went to pump and nothing, and have gotten nothing since. :( Even with me drinking unreasonable amounts of water and taking 3 fenugreek's a day, nothing seemed to help me produce enough milk. I feel so horrible, but my doctor told me to not beat myself up about it. He did get breast milk for almost a month, and every little bit counts. Bennett of course eats formula but he is not a fan. It takes him about 5 minutes to finish 3 ounces of a breast milk bottle, and about 20 minutes to finish a formula bottle. Praying maybe with our next baby (few years away) that I will still be able to breast feed. We will see :( It's a sad day in the Painter household..

Stay at Home Mama & Wife

Well,
it is official! I am officially a stay at home mommy and wife to Bennett and Adam. We have been going back and forth and it was not an easy decision to make. I have worked for Lupe's for over 4 years now and consider everyone there to be my family - I will miss seeing my ladies every day at work, and pray we can still remain close! I know this is the right decision to make for baby B and so happy that his mama will be there for all his big mile stones in life, like the first time he says mama ;) Adam is so happy - he says he is officially my "boss". I know it won't be easy, shoot.. this past week I have worked harder staying at home than I have in the past 4 years, but I can't wait to spend all my time with my baby boy! :)

3 weeks new!

It has been a great/long week!! Mommy is definitely in need of some sleep but wouldn't change it for the world!! I cannot believe Bennett is already 3 weeks old! Adam got him from work last night and all he could say is "oh my gosh..he is so big already!!!!!". His little feet already hang off of his swing! I have a feeling next week we will be in 0-3 month size clothes :(

We are still trying to get a routine going... last night was rough. Usually he sleeps 5:00pm - 7:30/8:00ish but yesterday he was wide awake and didn't start his evening nap until around 8:00.. making him wide awake at 10:00. He was up just about every 2 hours and was a HUNGRY boy. I had been setting my alarm every 3/4 hours to feed him during the night but stopped last night. Now that he is definitely gaining weight, I figured we could all use some more sleep and he will wake us up when he is ready. Bennett's great aunt Linda stopped by today to visit him for the first time and of course fell in love. He was actually wide awake for her! (Usually when we have visitors he is passed out) In other exciting news - I finally was able to walk down to our mail boxes yesterday and mail our birth annoucements! I have had them finished for days and just haven't had time to walk down to our mail box down the street!  I am hoping tonight or tomorrow to pull weeds in my flower bed. The last time I was able to get out in the yard was late April! It definitely needs some TLC! Aunt Nanny (Natalie) will be stopping by tomorrow to get some loving in on baby B!

Best appointment yet!!

Well, we had a weight check today and baby boy gained 13 ounces in ONE week!! He was 6lbs 4oz at his last appointment and today is 7lbs 1oz! Doctor Razak was so happy and we have no more weight check appointments scheduled!! I was a little worried because normal weight gain is 4-5 ounces a week but he said no, this is great and he is definitely having a growth spurt! Yippeee! Our next appointment is his 1 month check up on July 2nd :)

Nana made it to the appointment to help mommy get him in and out and she is heading back over so mommy can run to HEB, Walgreens and Babies R Us! This will be the first time I'll leave him with anyone else other than daddy!

Weekend Recap!

We had a great weekend!! Daddy surprised me with this charm from him and Bennett - LOVE it :) Now I just need to find time to go get it put on my bracelet :)

Saturday Ted, Miles and Cindi came over for a play date. Miles wasn't too sure what Bennett was! lol

Saturday night we gave daddy part 2 of his father's day gift - a new grill, all new grilling accessories, rack of lamb chops (not my fave, but he loves lamb) and a photo of Bennett for his desk at work! He LOVED everything we got him and had a great day yesterday! He grilled his rosemary lamb chops with a mint/onion sauce. It wasn't that bad :) My parents came by Sunday morning so we could give my dad his present and so they could see baby B :)

Baby boy got his first real bath last night. He HATES sponge baths so we knew he would hate it. Well, surprisingly he did great! He hated getting dried off but that was it! Didn't get any pictures but daddy got it on film.

Today is my FIRST day by myself. Last night was rough. Daddy went to bed early since he had work today so I was on baby duty. Bennett of course was awake from 8:00pm until 11:00pm last night! He was up from 1:30-2:30, 5:30am-6:30am, 7:30 and finally woke him up to eat at 9:00am. I have managed to do all the dishes, make the bed, eat breakfast, and sweep and mop  the kitchen floors. I did this all in about 30 minutes while Bennett was taking a nap! lol Tomorrow we have a doctor's appointment...hoping Nana takes off work to go with us! I am SO nervous about driving with him by myself!
